2018 – AGM – Crossnet
Report by Reverend Nick Crawley
Since the AGM in March 2017 Crossnet has continued to operate as a hub for discipleship focussed around the weekly 5.00pm Sunday Gathering. With an average attendance of around 10 people Crossnet provides a platform for leaders involved in a cross-section of different ministries, several of which are pioneering ministries. This was highlighted during an outstanding series throughout last summer in which members of Crossnet each explained how their individual discipleship was being worked out in their very different work contexts.
During the last twelve months the following developments have taken place.
In June 2017 we left Bar135 in the Whiteladies Road, and since then The Gathering has taken place at 27 Carnarvon Road.
In June 2017 Crossnet sponsored me to attend a consultation in Beirut on the issues that the persecuted church faces in the Middle East.
The Diocese has changed my licensing arrangements, and I am now licensed as an Assistant Curate (SSM) to Redland Parish Church. This is in line with the Anglican Church’s policy of licensing all Fresh Expressions of church to Parish Churches for Safeguarding purposes.
In the autumn we focussed on studies from 1 Samuel, and we are now preaching through Luke and Acts.
In February 2018 after leading the Crossnet Executive for two and a half years my wife Lucy laid down this responsibility, and since then I have resumed the leadership of Crossnet. This is therefore the right context to thank Lucy expressly for her dedicated leadership during this time. She has brought vitality, dynamic and imagination to the leadership of Crossnet and we have witnessed growth and development during her leadership. Thank you Lucy.
The Crossnet Community participated in a Lenten application: ‘Love one another’. This community engagement was exciting and stimulating and I am looking forward to engaging in similar applications in the future.
Once again, I end with special thanks; to Andrew Wood for auditing the Accounts, to the Diocesan Authorities for their patience and encouragement and long term support, to all those who support us financially and in prayer, and especially to our members. But above all we thank the Lord for His faithfulness and grace.
